Supervision is useful when a psychotherapist,

counsellor or psychologist feels the need to talk to

a qualified supervisor.

This might happen because:

  •    They might feel that therapy is not progressing and need help deciding how to proceed.

  •    To ensure ethical standards and a high moral code of conduct.

  •    They might need a different perspective, leading to new understandings and deeper insights.

  •    They might be facing an ethical and/or professional dilemma.

  •    It might be demanded from their psychotherapy training programme.

  •    Any other reason.

Supervision, like psychotherapy, takes place under strict confidentiality, and it can either take the form of individual supervision or group supervision.
